Prom Information AFTER TWO WEEKS, THE PROM TICKET SALE AT SCHOOL IS OVER. YOUR ONLY OPTION IF YOU STILL DON'T HAVE A TICKET IS TO SHOW UP AT THE INFINITE ENERGY CENTER BALLROOM AT 10AM ON SATURDAY MORNING. MR. STEWART WILL BE THERE FOR 15 MINUTES ONLY TO SELL LAST SECOND TICKETS. TICKETS WILL BE $30 (CASH OR CHECK ONLY). TICKETS WILL NOT BE SOLD AT THE DOOR ON PROM NIGHT. DO NOT COME TO THE DANCE WITH HAVING PURCHASED A TICKET IN ADVANCE! What: North Gwinnett Junior/Senior Prom When: Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 8pm-11:00pm Where: The Grand Ballroom at the INFINITE ENERGY CENTER in Duluth, Georgia Ticket Sales: Tickets will be available during lunch inside the CLC beginning on Monday, April 23. The cost is $20 for NGHS juniors and seniors who pay JUNIOR DUES. Juniors and seniors who didn't pay dues will be $95. Tickets for on-NGHS juniors and seniors (NG underclassmen and students from other schools) who attend as dates will be $20. The ticket price will rise by $10 the week of the Prom. Please note: Junior Dues and Senior Dues are two separate fees. You Junior Dues pay most of the cost of Prom. Your Senior Dues pay for GRADUATION and SENIOR WEEK! **The absolute last day to purchase a ticket to the Prom is THURDSAY, May 3. Junior Dues are paid according to the following schedule: If you pay your dues.... ...before the 1st day of school, your dues will be $65. ...after the 1st day of school but before winter break, your dues will be $75. ...after winter break but before spring break, your dues will be $85. ...after spring break or anytime during your SENIOR year, your dues will be $95. NGHS Prom Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I have to pay Junior Dues? Ticket sales pay for half the cost of putting on the Prom, Junior Dues make up the balance. Any money left after the Prom is used to pay the deposits on next year's Prom. Think you are paying too much? Search for "Prom" at other GCPS schools and you'll see NGHS students pay the least to attend the Prom! Also, know that unlike some of our neighboring schools where Junior Dues are mandatory for all students, NGHS only requires dues of students who want to attend the prom. A few years ago, the Junior Class sponsor sent a survey to the parents of the Junior Class asking if their family would rather do a fundraiser in lieu of paying Junior Dues. Overwhelmingly, the parents voted to continue Junior Dues. I transferred to NGHS during my Senior Year. Do I have to pay Junior Dues? Since Junior Dues pays for part of the prom Junior and Senior Year, Senior Transfer students are asked to pay 1/2 of the original fee--before all the late fees were added in. I really want to come to the Prom but I can't afford it. What should I do? At NGHS, we want everyone to be able to enjoy the Prom. Contact your guidance counselor ASAP to discuss some options. I am technically classified as a Sophomore but I earned enough credit for Junior status after Fall Semester and I will graduate at the end of next year. Can I come to the Prom? Yes. Just have your guidance counselor e-mail Mr. Stewart to let him know of your change in status. Pay your Junior Dues and you are all set to purchase your tickets and come to the Prom! Do I have to pay more if my date doesn't go to NGHS? No. Do I have to pay more if my date is a freshman or sophomore at NGHS? No Is it OK to come to the Prom solo? In 2017, 75% of the people who purchased tickets did so with groups of friends instead of a specific date! Is there a dress code for the Prom? Yes. This is a formal event and the attire should reflect the formality of the event. Will there be chaperones at the Prom? Absolutely. There is a very visible adult presence at the Prom. In 2016, this included the following: 6 uniformed Gwinnett Police Officers, 36 adult chaperones, 9 NGHS administrators, and over 120 NGHS teachers/staff. Will food be available at the Prom? Proof of the Pudding will provide a selection of light hors d'oeuvres and wonderful desserts between 8:30pm and 10:30pm. Punch, water, and coffee will be available throughout the evening. I'm picking my child up after the Prom, what time should I be there? The prom is over at 11:00pm. Please arrive no later than 11:00pm. Does North Gwinnett sponsor any sort of after prom function? No. Many families host after-parties for their student but NGHS does not sponsor an after party. When is next year's Prom? Saturday, May 4th, 20189at the Gwinnett Center!
